Homer Golf Course was built by retired teacher Dave Schroer, who started with two holes in his front yard and expanded over the years. It originally ran on an honor system — golfers dropped payment into a coffee can. The course sits at the southern terminus of Alaska's road system, earning it the informal title of "the last golf course in America."
