Alaska Golf Association - Est. 1959
Who We Are
Golf is more than a game. It's discipline, character, community, and a lifelong pursuit of something greater than the scorecard. That's what the Alaska Golf Association is built on.

Serving Alaska Golfers
Golf teaches you things no classroom can - patience, honesty, resilience, and the grace to keep playing when nothing goes your way.
The Alaska Golf Association has been the heartbeat of golf in this state since 1959. We are the official USGA allied golf association for Alaska - administering the Handicap System, rating courses, running state championships, and connecting golfers from Anchorage to Fairbanks to the remote corners of Southeast Alaska. But what we really do is something bigger than administration. We give golfers a place to belong. A community built on the values the game itself demands: integrity, respect, hard work, and the simple belief that showing up and competing matters. Alaska is unlike anywhere else in the world, and neither is the golf community we're building here.
Golf Is More Than A Game
It's How You Live
It Teaches Integrity
Golf is the only sport where players call penalties on themselves. Nobody is watching every shot. Nobody makes the call but you. That's not just golf - that's character. The AGA exists to protect and celebrate a game that demands honesty from everyone who plays it.
It Builds Resilience
You will hit bad shots. You will lose tournaments you thought you had won. You will play a round that makes you question why you ever picked up a club. And then you will tee it up again. Golf doesn't just test your swing - it tests your will. That's why the people who love this game are some of the toughest people alive.
It Creates Community
Four hours on a golf course with another person tells you everything about them - how they handle adversity, how they treat others, what they're made of when it matters. Golf builds friendships that last a lifetime. It puts people together across generations, backgrounds, and skill levels in a way no other sport can.
It Demands Excellence
Golf has no mercy. The course doesn't adjust. Par doesn't move. The only thing that changes is you - and that pursuit of getting better, of refining your craft, of committing to excellence over a lifetime, is a lesson that extends far beyond the fairway. The people who chase a great golf game are often the ones who chase greatness everywhere else too.
It Connects Generations
A grandmother can beat her grandson on the same course, with the same rules, at the same time. A junior can play alongside a 70-year-old club champion and learn more in 18 holes than in a year of lessons. Golf is the rare gift that transcends age - and the AGA is committed to making sure every generation of Alaska golfers has the opportunity to experience it.
It Belongs to Alaska
Golf in Alaska is something special. Midnight sun rounds. Mountains as a backdrop. Wildlife on the fairway. The conditions demand more and the rewards are greater. Alaska golfers are tougher, more creative, and more passionate about the game than almost anyone in the country. The AGA is here to honor that and build on it.
Our Belief
Golf doesn't just reflect who you are.
It shapes who you become.
It shapes who you become.
The Alaska Golf Association believes in the transformative power of this game - for juniors discovering it for the first time, for competitive players chasing championships, and for every golfer in between who finds something on the course they can't find anywhere else. We are here to protect that experience, grow it, and make it available to every Alaskan who wants it.
The AGA
Sixty-Five Years of Alaska Golf
Since 1959, the Alaska Golf Association has been the official foundation of golf in this state. We are the USGA allied golf association for Alaska - the organization responsible for handicaps, course ratings, state championships, rules education, and the infrastructure that makes organized golf possible across every region of Alaska. We are a non-profit. Every membership dollar goes back into programs, championships, and services for Alaska's golfers. That's not a talking point - it's how we've operated for over six decades, and it's the standard we hold ourselves to every single day.
