College Scholarships
NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and NJCAA programs offer scholarships to talented junior golfers. Your Handicap Index® is often the first thing college coaches look at.
The Network Effect
Golf is played in boardrooms and on fairways alike. The relationships you build on a college golf team often become the professional network that shapes your entire career.
Character & Discipline
Golf teaches honesty, self-regulation, and mental toughness. College coaches and future employers know that golfers bring something different to the table.
Travel & Experience
College golf teams travel across the country — and sometimes the world — competing at iconic courses and building experiences that go far beyond the classroom.
Lifelong Career Asset
Golf is uniquely played alongside business partners, clients, and leaders. Being a skilled golfer is a genuine professional advantage that pays dividends for decades.
Compete at Any Level

Scholarship Opportunities

Golf Can Pay for Your Education

Every year, student-athletes across the country receive partial or full scholarships to play college golf. The process is competitive — but for motivated junior golfers who build their record early, the opportunities are real and significant.

Academic performance matters just as much as golf. Coaches recruit student-athletes who can succeed in the classroom. Strong grades paired with a strong Handicap Index® is the winning combination.

NCAA Division I Golf Scholarships
D1 men's programs offer up to 4.5 scholarships split among the team. Women's D1 programs offer up to 6 full scholarships — among the most generous in college sports.
NCAA Division II Scholarships
D2 programs offer 3.6 (men's) and 5.4 (women's) scholarships. Often overlooked — but D2 can mean great golf, strong academics, and significant financial aid.
NAIA & Junior College
NAIA and NJCAA programs offer full scholarships and a path to 4-year programs. Perfect for players who want to develop their game before moving up to NCAA competition.
Academic & Merit Aid
Even Division III programs (which offer no athletic scholarships) can award substantial merit and need-based financial aid. The total package often rivals athletic scholarship programs.

01
Your Handicap Index® Is Your Resume
Coaches look at your GHIN profile first. A current, active Handicap Index® with a history of posted rounds tells them everything. Keep it updated every single round.
02
Reach Out Early — Don't Wait
D1 coaches begin identifying recruits as early as sophomore year. A short, professional email with your Handicap, tournament results, and academic GPA can start a relationship that leads to a scholarship.
03
Tournament Results Matter More Than Range Sessions
Playing well in AGA state events and USGA qualifiers shows coaches you perform under pressure. That's what they need in their lineup.
04
Grades Are Non-Negotiable
NCAA eligibility requires a minimum GPA and test scores. Many coaches won't recruit players who aren't academically solid. Treat your grades like you treat your handicap — always improving.
05
Make a Highlight Video
A 2–3 minute video showing your swing, course management, and tournament footage is extremely valuable. Coaches across the country can't visit Alaska — bring Alaska to them.
06
Be Coachable, Not Just Talented
Coaches recruit character as much as skill. A junior golfer who is respectful, works hard, and demonstrates sportsmanship stands out in a crowded recruiting pool.
The Alaska Advantage

Being From Alaska
Sets You Apart

Coaches notice when a recruit from Alaska shows up. Playing competitive golf in one of the most unique environments in the world — short seasons, challenging conditions, and a fierce love for the game — tells a story that kids from manicured Sun Belt courses simply can't tell.

Your AGA tournament history, USGA qualifying experience, and Handicap Index® are your credentials. They travel with you wherever you apply.

Playing in Alaska Builds Mental Toughness
Short seasons, variable weather, and challenging conditions produce resilient, adaptable golfers that coaches love.
AGA State Titles Carry Real Weight
Winning the AGA State Amateur or Junior Championship is a legitimate recruiting credential. Put it front and center in every coach email.
USGA Qualifying Experience
Competing in USGA local qualifiers right here in Alaska shows coaches you understand high-stakes, rules-based competition.
You're Rare — Use It
Very few college golf rosters include an Alaskan. Coaches remember the unusual. Your background is an asset, not a liability.
