Closing One Season, Building the Next

The final tournament of 2026 may be in the books, but things are far from slowing down at the Alaska Golf Association (AGA).

September marked the close of another busy season. It gave us a chance to recognize the courses, volunteers, and players who made it possible, and to turn our attention to what’s next for Alaska Golf. We also look forward to working with Palmer Municipal Golf Course again in 2027.

From expanding junior golf opportunities and planning the 2027 tournament calendar to laying the groundwork for Team Alaska, we’re building on this year’s progress. Our focus is clear: grow the game, and create more opportunities for golfers across our state.

Fall Jackpot – September 12
The Fall Jackpot at Anchorage Golf Course wrapped up the AGA’s 2026 tournament calendar and brought another season of competition to a close.

Team Alaska & Junior Golf
Planning continues for Alaska’s U.S. National Development Program State Junior Team and a new Junior Pipeline Tour, targeted for 2027. Both are part of the AGA’s ongoing commitment to developing young golfers and creating pathways for the next generation of players. The most effective way for AK Golf to grow is through our juniors.

Looking Ahead to the 2027 Season
The AGA is already working on the 2027 tournament schedule, championship opportunities, and ways to encourage greater participation from golfers throughout Alaska. This season has ended, but preparations for the next are well underway.

AK Golf in the News
Alaska Golf continued to gain regional and national attention, showing off the progress and unique character of the game in our state. The September edition of the PNGA’s Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine featured “Alaska Edition – Finding Our Footing,” which highlighted the continued development of the game in Alaska. Earlier this year, the AGA also took part in our first Lamey Cup, the annual Ryder Cup-style competition administered by the PNGA and which features the finest amateur players from the six member associations under the PNGA umbrella. We look forward to sending another team to Boise, Idaho, in 2027.

AGA Membership Fall Meeting – November 8
The AGA’s members are invited to the Fox Hollow Dome on November 8, from 1 to 3 p.m., to review the past season, discuss current initiatives, and look ahead to the opportunities and priorities shaping 2027. Everyone will get to hit a bucket of balls, enjoy some light eats, and hear our plans for 2027 firsthand.

Membership & GHIN
The AGA continues to work with WA Golf to provide official handicap services through GHIN, along with membership support for Alaska golfers. It helps players stay connected to the game and its opportunities. Our fees will increase for the first time in more than a decade, and we’ll review the details at our annual meeting.

Building on the Momentum
As we close out the 2026 season, our focus remains on building a stronger future for golf in Alaska. Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, hosted events, and supported the AGA this year.

We look forward to carrying that momentum into 2027 and continuing to grow the game together.
